San Andreas is comprised of culturally diverse people of all ages, which of course breeds crime. Yet, we all have this in common: We all use roads and highways throughout the state to go places, conduct business, engage in illegal commerce, or simply enjoy San Andreas' generated beauty. Help us do it safely! The San Andreas Highway Patrol (SAHP) is actively recruiting while working to reduce collision and fatality rates in San Andreas. Ever since the State Police folded we've been proud to serve as an all encompassing State law enforcement agency. We provide various programs designed to help promote safety and communication between San Andreas' diverse residents and the SAHP. These include Child Safety Seat Lectures, limited funeral escort ventures, and DVD sales of the classic 1970's Television series SAHP's, a historic public relations asset.
WHAT DO WE REALLY DO?
We engage in rolepays, where we act as the San Andreas Highway Patrol. We were founded in 2014 with the purpose of providing quality capture based patrols, utilizing aspects of the AI to provide a criminal element. We also sought a strong emblem, vibrant community, and limited to no drama. So far we have succeeded.
HOW DID THIS CREW START?
I used to play with LCPD, LSPD, DONT, and numerous other role playing groups. We usually used humans for criminals. We had to in GTA IV, but we kept with tradition in GTA V. I can't tell you how many sessions devolved into shouting matches or silent grudges. We always had good turn out, but many were compelled to play civilians when they really wanted to be playing cops. Finally I abandoned my crews for the SAHP. I collaborated with a few other police roleplayers and designed playlists that emphasize police work. Really, once you figure out the scope of the AI reactions, both in vehicles and out, it's easy to set up scenarios. We do not use civilian players, we're all Officers here.
DO YOU PLAY IN FREE MODE?
No. We get together in an invite only session, we meet at Central Division for briefing then launch a Patrol Playlist composed of six ten to twenty minute tours. Each tour pays between $10,000 and $20,000 meaning police work in San Andreas is more lucrative than reality. In free mode players have to deal with AI police, having unwieldy cops ram your cruiser only to raise wanted levels is an unnecessary annoyance. Furthermore, free mode doesn't pay and will actually cost Officers to participate, albeit a reasonable fee. As mentioned earlier, our patrols pay very well, and we go through enough of them in one session to make the reward gratifying for most Officers.
WHY HIGHWAY PATROL?
Why not? The California Highway Patrol is the State Police for California. I believe that's the only state like that. California disbanded their State Police in the 1990's making the CHP the largest State Police Agency in the Nation. This not only allows us to play as standard highway patrol, but also to respond to calls often beyond the scope of another states highway patrol. We also look forward to games featuring San Fierro and Las Venturas in the future. Those too will be in our jurisdiction.
IS THERE AN APPLICATION PROCESS?
Getting a solid group of Officers together is complicated enough without bogging those members down with a drawn out hiring process. We understand that you want to patrol, you want pursuits, not simulated practice. Simply contact the founder or any of our Officers, and add them to your Xbox Live friends list. If all works well you will be welcomed to an invite only session. Once you're in uniform and at the rally point, you're good to go.
There is a training patrol, but not every Officer has gone through it and it is in no way mandatory. As long as you're mature and you get along well with your fellow Officers you will be regarded as a valued Officer.
WHAT DO YOUR OFFICERS DRIVE?
We drive the Vapid Interceptor primarily, for various reasons. They're available in capture mode and they offer a livery option. Furthermore, they are black and white, which is traditionally popular with the CHP. We don't drive the white Sheriff's vehicles because they do not load in capture. We don't drive the unmarked vehicles often because they're unmarked. Some people don't like the Vapid Interceptor and that's understood. Maybe we'll issue bumper stickers that say I'd rather be driving a Stanier.
Either way, until new options arise, we drive the Vapid Interceptor. It's not a bad car.
ARE WE HIRING FOR ADMINISTRATION?
We are always searching for future leaders, but we don't hire from the top down. Officers are expected to put in time, and if they enjoy patrolling this shouldn't be a problem. Time invested plus good behavior can only lead to upward mobility. Some Officers sign up with plenty of leadership experience and this is a welcome asset. We need more dispatchers, and we welcome more patrols. If you wish to be involved in forum administration the same requirements apply. Get involved, communicate with other Officers, and you'll make yourself a leader.
INTERESTED IN A MERGER?
While growth is in the interest of every crew we will not fold ours only to bolster another. Some members may wish to expand our scope, but we are strictly a Highway Patrol organization. This is not meant to to portray superiority to other law enforcement crews, rather to show pride in our own identity. We also do not seek the disbanding of other crews to bolster our own, nor do we ask that our members keep SAHP as their active crew. Despite these general guidelines, crew leaders should contact a forum Administrator to negotiate.
WILL I BE KICKED IF INACTIVE?
We are not a high pressure crew. All we expect from our membership is an interest in law enforcement and positive interaction. Real life happens, and we do not hold players accountable for their absence. Gone for a year? Okay, maybe we'll drop you, but short of a long time frame, your membership is safe with us.
