The Police Academy Playlist
It is our hope that every Officer will at some point complete the Training Playlist. This consists of six training tours designed to ease you into the role of state law enforcer. The playlist begins with a cadet feel, testing your driving and shooting proficiency. We will cover the basics of our codes, enough to get an Officer started. Finally, we will end the playlist with real world scenarios, evaluating an Officer's overall capabilities in the field.
When a host starts a playlist or game, he or she must press pause and go to the Info tab. This will walk them through their dispatch notes. Below is a brief description of the six training sessions we provide, containing some of the information found in the info tab in game.
EMERGENCY VEHICLE OPERATOR'S COURSE (EVOC)
This Emergency Vehicle Operations Course will determine whether or not you are certified to become a San Andreas Highway Patrol Traffic Officer. Cadets will await the go signal from dispatch. Then proceed code one until you reach public roads. At that point you will proceed code three to the evidence. Secure evidence and return. Do not damage your assigned vehicle.
When the host loads up EVOC, he should set it as a timed match, or have a stopclock nearby. Cadets are expected to be able to complete the course in less than three minutes with minimal damage to their vehicles. It can be helpful if the host pilots a nearby helicopter, monitoring the progression, and guiding the Cadets along. There are some things to keep in mind. Some of the gates do not automatically open, and the cadet will have to push their vehicle through. It should also be noted that short cuts are not allowed. After each cadet has worked the course, the host should arrange to close the session.
GUN EXERCISE
This is a San Andreas Highway Patrol training scenario. The cadets are to take care not to shoot the innocent as they work their way through a hogan's alley set up to secure evidence on the South helipad. The host must pilot Air One which can be found at the point of interest. POIs are always marked by a health object on the map (+).
The targets in this training exercise will keep spawning, the object is not to subdue them all. The host will not follow the cadets into the shooting range, instead, he will board a nearby helicopter and wait for the signal. The signal is when a cadet has collected the evidence. AT that point the host must fly in and land, giving control of the helicopter over to the cadet with the evidence. That cadet flies to the other helipad, and ends the session.
CROWD CONTROL
It's time to hit the streets. LSPD is monitoring a strike at the Fridgit Warehouse. The Governor has ordered that the cadets go and break up the strike. Host must inspect each bus for damage as they arrive. Host should also turn on the lightbars for each unoccupied cruiser at the strike. This should be common practice. Clear the strike and report to Division 7. Cadets must take to avoid striking a fellow cadet from the opposite team.
What better way to test your melee skills than to throw the cadets into a riot, Police Academy style. This is just as much an endurance test as it is a physical combat evaluation. Cadets are expected to adorn black bulletproof helmets and black body armor before they board the bus. The host will inspect them, and participate in the operation.
OUT WITH IT
This training session deals with patrol procedure. Once at the POI cadets should respond to a Grand Theft Auto at 176 East Mirror Drive. Respond and gather evidence. Then investigate. One type of stop is called 10-6 pedestrian. Unless the pedestrian is wanted the Officer should have reason to be 10-6 pedestrian. These may include public intox, solicitation or loitering.
This session highlights our situational update mechanism. When the Officer responding to the grand theft auto collects evidence, he will be updated on the make and model of the stolen vehicle. This is a common occurance on our patrols, and requires the responding Officer to put out an APB. There are also times when Officers will suddenly see a rumor on their screen worth investigating. They should note that they might be the only Highway Patrolman with such information, and act accordingly.
We also present 10-6 in this tour. Officers are encouraged and expected to go 10-6 for various reasons during a patrol. You see a suspicious pedestrian, then say you'll be 10-6 with a pedestrian. You see an illegally parked AI car? Go 10-6 vehicle with a brief description of the car and location. We want our Officers to act independently, keeping their eyes peeled for parking violations, vagrants and prostitutes.
ROAD RULES
In this training session we deal with traffic stops. After roll call units will head north along the Palimino Freeway to intercept a taxi with a innocent driver, a bail bondsman, and a crack dealer with a gun. First to pursue is lead and should not be overtaken. Second car handles radio description. Do not discharge firearm from car or pit without permission. Get the crack house location from the crackhead.
This is a two part real world scenario. The taxi must be pursued according to protocol, and the situation discourages Officers opening fire. After all, there is an innocent taxi driver and a friendly bail bondsman in the cab, along with the armed suspect. The host wants to make sure that pursuit order is maintained, and afterward should evaluate how effectively the Officers responded. Afterwards Officers will take part in a small raid based on information acquired from the cab, and should group up nearby before confronting their suspects.
PROBATIONARY
One Officer spawns at a crime scene. When this occurs he should turn on nearby light bars, wait for roll call, then call in an EMS hostage situation at San An Taqueria involving a male with a knife. That's the POI. Next respond to reports of gunfire behind the McGrory Furniture Building, the evidence marker. Assist in the search for the Family lieutenant.
On many occasions an Officer will have to assist the host in a crime scene set up, and act as first responder. This is covered in more detail elsewhere on these forums. This final training session confronts the Officers with just such an occasion. The host should make sure that the Officer charged with calling in the situation does not attempt to resolve it before back up arrives. From there it's a standard patrol, and after this tour the cadets are full fledged Officers.
